FRANCISTOWN: Officials at the Sports Volunteer Movement (SVM) are content with the number of people who have offered to volunteer for the upcoming African Youth Games in Gaborone. The SVM has so far travelled to areas such as Serowe, Lobatse, Selebi-Phikwe, Tsabong and Maun to register those who are interested in volunteering their services at the games.

The SVM was recently in Francistown and over 100 volunteers came for identification screening and registration, according the SVM spokesperson Thabo Osekeng in a interview recently.

"The numbers of people who have registered to volunteer to assist with various skills at the games so far exceeds the 2, 000 we have targeted. The turnout of volunteers is very impressive. “After the final registration and screening to verify the identities of people who have applied we will embark on a vetting process to determine who will make the final 2, 000 volunteers based on the type of skills we need for the games," Osekeng said.
