Chape has served as technical director for the past three years on voluntary basis, but has landed a five-year lucrative deal where he is reported to be earning just over R100, 000 per annum. Speaking to Mmegi Sport on Wednesday from South Africa, Chape refuted that the move was influenced by money but instead said it comes as an opportunity to grow as an elite trainer.
“I received an offer to start up a fencing club this side. I was offered by a local private school, it was an easy decision to make, as I did not have a contract with BAFS. I see this as an opportunity to grow as a coach,” he said.
