Angry mob beats thief to death

In the picture is a suspected thief from a different case caught in Phase 2 in Gaborone
An alleged 'habitual thief' was last night killed by an angry mob at Phuthadikobo ward in Molepolole village.

The alleged thief was caught red-handed in one of the resident’s houses. An angry mob that appeared tired of his alleged habitual acts assaulted him to death.

The officer commanding, senior superintendent Modise Gabatshwane confirmed they are investigating the murder case.

“It is true we are investigating a case in which a 30-year-old man was beaten to death by some members of the community. The deceased whose names

are still withheld was caught red-handed in someone’s house and some people assaulted him to death.  When the police arrived they rushed him to Scottish Livingstone Hospital where he was certified dead by doctors upon arrival,” he said.

Gabatshwane said they have not made any arrests in connection to the case, but said investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what really transpired.
