Major sponsors shun Mayor's marathon

Traditional sponsors have shunned this year's Gaborone Mayor's Marathon after last year's debacle where it took forever for athletes to receive their dues.

Speaking during a press briefing on Monday, Gaborone mayor, Kagiso Thutlwe said companies have refused to be part of the event because of what transpired last year.

“The companies want a report so that they can consider us for next year. I do not have a problem with that. After this marathon, we are going to have a proper technical report that we will submit to the potential sponsors and other stakeholders," he said.
