Saleshando cautions party lawyers against Khama

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) party president Dumelang Saleshando has cautions his party attorneys not to entertain representing the former president Ian Khama if he were to seek their legal representation.

He said the attorneys should know there is need to balance their professional duties with the interests of the organisation they freely and voluntarily choose to associate with.

“Retired President Khama presided over a corrupt government that had minimal regard for civil liberties. Representing a person who embodies all that which we oppose will rightfully earn us the label of hypocrites. Taking instructions from those who championed looting of public resources diminishes our moral authority to make any promise for a better Botswana,” Saleshando says.
