Dambe appointed first Court of Appeal female judge

The new Chief Justice (CJ) Terrence Rannowane has confirmed the appointments of High Court judges, Zibani Makhwade and Leatile Dambe, to the Court of Appeal (CoA) bench. This makes Dambe the first female in the country to ever be appointed to the bench.

Addressing his colleagues in Gaborone Monday last week after taking over from the retired CJ Maruping Dibotelo, Rannowane confirmed the appointments. 

February this year, this publication reported that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) had recommendation of the appointments of Justices Makhwade and Dambe as CoA judges, and observers questioned what criteria was used to shortlist the two.
