Botswana closes borders due to Mafikeng protests

Border posts and entry points leading to the Mafikeng municipality in the North West province in South Africa have been closed following the violent protest in the neighbouring country.

The Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs earlier today stated that the entry points would be closed from today, April 19th 2018 until further notice. 

BW Government reports that there are no taxis and buses going into Mahikeng because the operators have joined the protests. Batswana are therefore advised to suspend trips to Mafikeng areas until the situation calms down.
