SEROWE: The Debswana First Division North league title challenge was blown wide open last weekend when Morupule Wanderers thumped log leaders BR Highlanders 2-0. The thrill of a photo-finish saw the nearest contenders, Motlakase Power Dynamos edging Green Lovers by a solitary goal.

The deficit at the top has now been reduced to three points with three games left. Sua Flamingoes and Wanderers are also breathing heavily on leaders in third and fourth positions respectively, both four points adrift.

Highlanders were sunk by a Kealeboga Oitsile’s brace. Oitsile, otherwise known as Skepe to his cronies, is a former Chouka talisman. He crossed over to Wanderers in the January transfer window. Skepe scored in each half. His first goal came in the 21st minute and drilled the agonising nail in the 85th minute. While Skepe did the job in Mahalapye, Motlakase were wasteful in Serowe. In the opening half they created an avalanche of clear-cut chances against a cold Green Lovers, but failed to profit. Lovers were not enterprising and were happy to knock the ball around without threatening the Chouka goals. Motlakase could have easily claimed a 4-0 lead going into the break, but they either skied or sent their chances wayward.
