The Ministry of Health has issued a national recall on specific ready to eat meat products from South Africa and closed the border on their importation, in the wake of a deadly disease outbreak in that country.
In a statement released this afternoon, the Ministry said all consumers in possession of the products should return them to where they bought them. Consumers will receive refunds.
'The affected products include products from Enterprise (Bokkie, Renown, Lifestyle and Mieliekip); and Rainbow products (Polony, Russian and Viennas).
These also include any other products manufactured and/or packaged for other retailers by Enterprise and Rainbow, ' reads the statement.
A Mmegi newscrew today found that retailers in Gaborone have pulled the products from their shelves.
The Health Ministry cautioned Batswana against eating any ready to eat meat products that have been implicated in the outbreak.
