In the red: GU are facing financial challenges

Struggling Gaborone United (GU) are waiting for the payment of their P300,000 prize money from Mascom after they were eliminated in the semi finals of the lucrative Top 8 cup competition.

GU’s days are increasingly getting darker as they battle to pay their players, who have gone on strike.

This week, GU coach, Rudolfo Zapata said the team had effectively clocked 20 days without training, with players meeting on match day.
