The club chairperson, Glody Dube told the members that the document was not properly drawn from the beginning. He said it is imperative for the constitution to be aligned to that of the BAA. He said they have started the ball rolling and somebody is assisting with points of law for the new constitution.

“We are considered the best club in the country and we must do things in a proper manner. Our technical officers are always engaged during BAA activities. Last year the BAA requested us to host their national championships and did a good job. The same thing might happen this year. I implore you to put all hands on deck and make sure that this club goes far,” he said.

Dube said some of Sports View coaches and technical officers were sent for training in Zimbabwe and Zambia last year. He said that was meant to empower them adding that training would continue. He said Zimbabwe Athletics Association (ZAA) has requested Sports View to assist them in hosting their Cross-country series. Dube noted that getting

recognition from other countries is an indication that they are doing something right.

Sports View member who is also the national organiser-athletics for Botswana Primary Schools Sports Association (BOPSSA), Joseph Olaotse said the club should spread its footprint to other parts of the country. He said working with athletes from grassroots level is important. He said if there are members from other areas, the club could assist them to compete in various events.

“We can identify a primary school in the area and adopt it. It does not have to come with a cost. Adopting a school could include training of officials and providing them with running kits with our branding,” he said.

Another member, Godfrey Jeremiah said Sports View should not only focus on elite athletes. He said identifying athletes when they are still young is important. Some of the elite athletes who are members of Sports View are Amantle Montsho and Onneile Dintwe. The meeting was informed that the club is in the process of starting work with a certain primary school in Gaborone.
