Mmegi Online :: Phiri is lying - Moalosi

Phiri slapped Moalosi during their clash on Tuesday and later claimed the Rollers player had insulted him. The incident sparked a brawl with saw two Rollers players, Joel Mogorosi and Mthokozisi Msomi also receiving marching orders for their violent reaction.

Moalosi, through his Facebook page today denied ever provoking Phiri. He said, instead, he had asked the referee to ensure that Phiri quickly leaves the pitch after he had received the red card.

“If this is not what I said and if I said what he is accusing me of, why would the referee not hear those bad words that I would never say to anyone? And I have never ever in my life after so many tackles said such words; or even players that were closest to me to react since some were TAFIC players,” Moalosi said.

He further said the picture clears shows that the referee was closest to him than Phiri and that the referee would have picked the words. Moalosi even wondered why Phiri apologized through WhatsApp messages if he (Moalosi) had actually insulted his parents and called

him names.

“First, if we remember well, it’s not the first time that this player displays this kind of behaviour and some players suffered career threatening injuries and leg breaks. (He) Did the same thing against Sankoyo okay, just because there was no video evidence he didn’t have to come up with a story that people can feel (sorry) for him,” Moalosi said.

He said Phiri poked him on the eye when he informed the referee that the Zimbabwean defender deserved a yellow card for the penalty foul.

“He kicks a player from behind, gets a yellow card and his own players yell at him for always costing them games. Same (with the) free kick before it was taken, he hits a player with a total boxing blow on the neck (dangerous sport) from behind unnoticed and the fourth official clearly catches the incident, he gets a red card (shouldn’t be on the field by any chance).”

Phiri has since been suspended from all Botswana Football Association activities, together with his coach, Rapelang Tsatsilebe and  theRollers duo, Mogorosi and Msomi.
