Market embraces BK Proctor’s Sneaker Brand

The first sneaker collection by local music producer and entrepreneur, Bokang Proctor, has been getting good reception in a market that is ‘accommodating’ and with vast potential for growth.

Proctor says it took them a year and half to come up with the product, as they had to go through a rigorous process of identifying a manufacturing company to work on the sketches, designs and illustrations for the shoes.

Established two years ago, ‘Collections by BK Proctor’, an urban sneaker, was fortunate enough to be China-based Sneakerhead’s first advanced experimental collection.

“We are at negotiating tables with various sneaker shops and outlets across the country to establish a proper distribution network, which makes it easy for our customers to access our products,” he said.

Proctor told Monitor Business that his inspiration came out of his love for sneakers adding that as a multi-talented entrepreneur, he wanted to come up with an idea that is not yet saturated in the market, which is also close to his heart.

“My love for sneakers grew over the years and being in the music industry also contributed a lot to the growth if not obsession towards sneakers because as an entertainer it is imperative to always look

good, fresh and presentable on and off stage at all times,” he said. 

“So that means having a variety of the latest and nice(st) sneaker brands in your wardrobe.”

According to Proctor, in his endeavour to fulfil his dream, he travelled a lot to other countries including Asia in search of products that could complement his brand because he wanted quality and products that could compete in the international arena.

In addition, he said they have plans to open a factory and are currently setting up online stores for their international customers.

“People find our designs more appealing with an outstanding price-value proposition.  We also want to expand our designs into apparel and merchandise just to complement our sneaker designs,” he said.

He added that they are working on the next collection, which the design works and process were completed a few weeks ago in Hong Kong, China. He said they have three more designs, which they have submitted to the factory, two of which are already in production including their next collection.
