A hat-trick from Tumisang Orebonye, a brace from Thatayaone Kgamanyane and a goal from Dirang Moloi saw Magosi suffer a rare humiliating defeat, which leaves them in dangerous relegation zone.

It was their third successive defeat in the league while GU bounced back to winning ways after two high scoring draws against Police XI and BDF XI.

Despite the scorching heat, both sides never failed to rise up to the occasion and notwithstanding the heavy defeat, Chiefs also had a fair share of possession, but were let down by their bad decisions upfront as well as poor defending.

GU took the lead in the 25th minute through Orebonye who wrestled Lawrence Majawa before beating him to pace.

The Zebras striker went on to stun Chiefs goalkeeper, Noah Maposa with a shot from a tight angle.

The goal came just a minute after Chiefs had their chance on the other end with Tendai Nyamadzawo testing GU goalkeeper,  Ookeditse Semelamela. From the rebound, Thatayaone Ramatlapeng failed to capitalise and shot wide off the goalposts.

Orebonye then grabbed his brace 13 minutes later with a powerful header from a brilliant cross by Tshepo Maikano.

Two minutes later, Moloi who was in his element against his former team delivering a defence splitting pass and Orebonye completing his hat-trick when his shot deflected off Majawa’s foot into the net.

However, Chiefs pulled one back right at the end of

the first half with a beautiful free kick from Lesego Lubinda.

In the second half, Chiefs made some changes with ineffective Khumoetsile Kufigwa and Nelson Moreetsi making way for Botshelo Lorato and Ototeng Dintwa respectively.

However, it was Chiefs who found the back of the net through Moloi with a cool finish. Ramatlapeng reduced the deficit a minute later, but GU went on to score two more goals through Kgamanyane.

In the first goal, Moloi once again left Chiefs defence in sixes and sevens with his defence splitting passes and released Kgamanyane who also showed composure and slotted past Maposa.

He scored his second goal in an almost similar fashion with less than 10 minutes before the end of the game.

Speaking to journalists after the game, Chiefs assistant coach, Pontsho Moloi said despite suffering his worst defeat since joining Magosi more than 10 years ago, they cannot fold arms.

He said they will have to go back and correct their mistakes. GU coach, Rodolfo Zapata said he was very impressed by his players who continue to play good football.
