Accused makes U-turn on rape charges

FRANCISTOWN: A 31-year-old man of Monarch location made an abrupt U-turn Monday at the Magistrate’s Court when he denied one count of rape.

In the previous mention, Mmoloke Makombe, 31, voluntarily agreed to the offence only to make a change the plea on the eleventh hour when the summary of facts we read to him.

The state alleges that Makombe raped his 35-year-old victim at Monarch Area 11 on May 28, 2015.
