Local Poets Start The Year On A High Note

The event dubbed ‘Poetry Open Mic Sessions’ attracted an impressive crowd, which seemed to enjoy performances. The session kicked-off with a performance from poetess Iry, dishing out a brief but captivating performance of dance.

Poets who appeared on stage with their different unique pieces provoked emotions and kept revellers asking for more. Gomolemo Motsamai, who dished out a few poems, followed Iry.

He seemed to have impressed his audience as many people kept clapping and murmuring in appreciation. The ever-vibrant young man’s use of words brought emotions, as he performed a piece on his life and childhood memories.

He is more like a linguistic expert who is exceptional and innovative in weaving of words that leave lasting impression.

There is no arguing that Motsamai knows

what to do once he is given a microphone and with him on stage there can never be a dull moment.

Some of the poets who performed include Team Money, Swagger Boy, Moratiwa who performed a poem titled the Nature of nature, Ketsala Makuku and Tawanda.

The artists showed diversity and creativity on stage to dazzle the audience. Steady Onks who was also the Master of the Ceremony (MC) for the session showed that he is a man of many talents when he caught the crowd’s attention with his own piece of poetic melody.

As the youthful poets took turns on stage, MC Steady Onks then introduced German poet, Winfred Molla. The elderly Molla read an ancient German poem titled Finally.
