Botswana has failed to qualify for the 2018 Africa Junior Championship (AJC) slated for March. The local players started well during the ongoing AJC Southern Region championship at Notwane courts.

Botswana coach, Kagiso Kelebeile told Sport Monitor that with the ongoing Championships, they had wanted five players to qualify for the continental showpiece.

“The draw did not favour us. We won the first matches nicely, but the next matches we met strong players,” he said. Kelebeile said the challenge is that the championship was held at the wrong time when players are just coming from the festive break and had not been training.
