The national Under-17 girls’ side suffered a major setback in their quest to reach the finals of the 2018 World Cup.

The team once again fell prey to nemesis South Africa, as they were hammered 5-2 in the first leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers first round played at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Friday.

The local side missed their top goal scorer in the competition, Michell Abueng, through injury. The striker has four goals in two games. On the field, the visitors took an early lead as Karabo Dlamini scored in the first minute.
