Mmegi Online :: Another tough week for Chiefs, Gilport

They have recorded just one victory in eight games this season. Before the TAFIC game, Chiefs players reportedly threatened to down tools due to unpaid salaries.

The financial situation at the club since last season has left them vulnerable, forcing several key players to move to rival teams. With the BTC Premiership going for a break due to the FIFA international week, Magosi will be hoping to have sorted out their technical department when the league resumes next week. The team has been under the tutelage of Innocent Morapedi and former player, Pontsho Moloi.

Former Malawi national team coach, Kinnah Phiri is expected to lead the team this season but faces a huge task as problems concerning finances at the club keep recurring.

Their next fixture is against Gilport Lions who are also struggling to find their feet this season. Gilport are at the bottom of the table with just one victory this season. They have collected three points from eight games following yet another loss over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Jwaneng Galaxy and Miscellaneous kept up pace as they attempt to chase log leaders,

Township Rollers to the finishing line. Galaxy managed to collect maximum points from their narrow win over Sharps Shooting Stars. Miscellaneous, on the other hand, went past Gilport Lions.

Galaxy are second with 16 points, eight behind Rollers. Miscellaneous are third with 13 points. Both sides have a game in hand after their fixture was cancelled last week due to a waterlogged pitch. The match has been rescheduled to Thursday at Serowe Sports Complex.

Log leaders, Rollers survived a scare against Security Systems on Sunday to keep their 100% win record this season.

Despite taking a quick 2-0 lead, the Alarm Boys fought their way back and levelled matters before Jerome Ramatlhakwana stole the winner in the dying minutes of the game.

They have won eight out of eight, scoring 19 goals in the process. Systems’ loss denied them a place in the top eight this week.

Orapa United dropped to position five after their draw against Black Forest. Rodolfo Zapata was left delighted after his side, Gaborone United registered their second consecutive win on Sunday, in the process, moving to fourth.
