The Monitor :: Tekno Dazzles On Debut As Ati Keeps His Cool

The artist, brought by Fables in partnership with MTN Business, left his fans yearning for more at Duma FM grounds this past weekend. Nigerian music, particularly Afrobeats, is having a moment in the entertainment industry. Tekno is the second Nigerian artist to perform in Botswana in a space of a week. His friend and homie, Davido could not make his impact last week and it was now up to Tekno to bring the house down.

The appetite for Nigerian music is already high in Botswana and Tekno was exactly what the doctor ordered after last week’s minor relapse. He arrived on stage after midnight and his fans were waiting in anticipation to see the award-winning singer. Ladies were shouting non-stop, as they sang along and bopped to his songs like Yawa and Rara. Tekno knew the right button to press and it was not long before he performed one of his most popular songs called Diana and Tekno’s energetic performance took them away into cloud nine.

Performing with a live band, he wanted to bring the whole package and give the fans their money’s worth. He then performed another hit entitled Pana and people crowded towards the stage as they begged for handshakes. Tekno then threw his cap and shirt to the crowd before performing his final song and it felt like the performance was short-lived. Tekno was the second artist from Fables after Rick Ross last year.

Even though Tekno was on point, ATI, the

most sought after artist in Botswana continued where he left off at the same venue last week with another memorable performance. The man who whopped on a crane at St Louis festival made another surprise entrance.

The stage was concealed with a white cloth and all of a sudden fans could hear the sound of Undertaker’s most iconic theme song in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. Undertaker’s entrance was legendary and ATI wanted to make his own legacy as his silhouette could be seen on the white cloth. It was as if fans were watching a film projected on the movie theatre cloth.

After teasing his fans for some few minutes, the Lekhete hit-maker then cut the white cloth and began his performance. He was glad in white and sitting perfectly on white steps and the sight was so inspiring for any performing artist. The dominating colours were white and red and ATI wiped off some red stain on his hand and he was now out for blood.

As the crowd cheered and the lights flashed, the artist who has now established himself, kept his cool and dwindled down the white stairs. He finally performed the song of the moment; Khiring Khiring Khorong Khorong and people did not know what to do. Despite not attracting a large crowd compared to other big festivals like St Louis and GIMC, the Fables continued to brand itself as the one stop for urban culture events.
