Shakawe man�s corpse recovered from Okavango River

The body of a 32-year-old man of Saoshoko ward in Shakawe village was on Sunday recovered from Okavango River. The man had disappeared in the water while on a swimming escapade with his friends Saturday afternoon.

According to Shakawe police commander, superintendent Goitsemodimo Molapisi, following an alert from the friends,  Botswana Defence Force (BDF) rescue swimmers, together with their police colleagues, took the whole afternoon until late evening searching the river for the missing man.

“Despite an extensive search no sign of the missing man was found until it was dark something that forced us to stop the search until the next day when we searched again for hours and later located and recovered the man’s lifeless body around 1pm in the afternoon,” Molapisi said.
