LOBATSE: Orapa United moved back joint top with Township Rollers after Tapiwa Nyamanjiva’s first half strike gave the miners the full points in a BTC Premiership tie at the Lobatse Sports Complex yesterday.

The Ostriches’ consistent pressure was almost rewarded six minutes into the match but Lemogang Moswena missed by a whisker.

Moyagoleele settled into the game and Kabelo Seakanyeng sent a set piece inches over in the 16th minute. 

The visitors immediately moved ahead when off season signing,  Tapiwa Nyamanjiva curled the ball into the net from the right side.

Alphonse Modisaotsile was cautioned for a nasty tackle on Lesenya Ramoraka while Thatayaone Ditlhokwe was also cautioned for pulling back Omaatla Kebatho during quick counter. The Money Machine grabbed the tie by the scruff towards the end of the first half in search of an equaliser.Both teams’ goalkeepers, were equal to the task.

Karabo Phiri made way for Mothusi Johnson at the start of the second half as GU continue their search for an equaliser.

Dirang Moloi failed to push the ball over the goal line after Kabelo Joseph was cautioned for an offence outside the box in the 51st minute. Moyagoleele enjoyed possession and pinned the Ostriches in their own half.

Tumisang Orebonye made way for Jeffrey Sikapite 15 minutes into the second stanza. At the other end, Kebatho, who had just been cautioned, made way for Partrick Lenyeletse. Mayagoleele consistently tested Joseph’s strength between the posts as they overpowered the Ostriches in the second half. Orapa United’s key striker, Ronald Chikomo was sent off after wrestling goalkeeper, Goitseone Phoko in an off the ball incident.

Gaborone United coach, Radolph Zapata said the game was tough as he had expected. “Our players failed to open the opponents’ defence but we tried to explore all means to goal. We will have to go and work extra hard especially that we have three tough fixtures coming

ahead,” he said. His counter part, Madinda Ndlovu described the game as ‘rubbish’. “The game was rubbish, what can we pick from it except that we have collected three points. My players were butchered but the referee didn't do anything,” Ndlovu said.
