Man arraigned for alleged fatal stabbing

A 28-year-old man was yesterday arraigned for allegedly knifing a 21-year-old Gaborone West man, who later died from his stab wounds on Friday. The police were called to Phase 1 on Friday night and found the badly injured man upon arrival, Gaborone West police station commander, Superintendent Howard Modo told Mmegi.

Modo said that the stabbing incident resulted when the two men got into a misunderstanding that lead to the deadly end for one of them. He said at the scene they found the victim still conscious and rushed him to Julia Molefhe Block 9 Clinic where he was later referred to Princess Marina Hospital.

“We have arrested the 28-year-old man alleged to have stabbed another with a knife and he is currently in custody. The suspect was arraigned yesterday at Village Magistrate Court for the offence of murder.  On Saturday, we received a report from the hospital informing us that the youthful man lost his life due to the wounds he sustained from the stabbing,” Modo said. He said that the cause of their fight is not yet known, but investigations into the matter are ongoing.
