Murder accused attacks reporters in cops presence

Broadhurst Magistrate’s court yesterday nearly turned into a bloodbath after irate murder accused turned their anger on journalists as police appeared momentarily paralysed.

The suspects protested being taken pictures. A Btv reporter who was trying to record visuals just before proceedings commenced, was the target of the remand prisoners’ brunt.

The small courtroom packed with suspects, prosecutors, prison warders and the general public, watched as one of the suspects who had just been uncuffed managed to grab a baton stick from one of the police officers and hurled it at the scribes who were just over two metres away.
