Karate foundation off the ground

Back in 2014, the Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) had come up with initiatives, including the establishment of a BOKA Foundation, meant to turn around the fortunes of karate.

But a motion of no confidence in the Tshepho Bathai-led committee scuppered the developments.

The return of Bathai at the helm of the association has meant the revival of the initiatives, with the BOKA Foundation already up and running. “The foundation is a non-profit trust intended to engage the public and private sector, and other stakeholders in partnerships with the Botswana Karate Association.  The primary purpose of the foundation is to advance, promote, and support the mission of BOKA,” he said.
