PALAPYE: The police in Mahalapye have arrested six men aged between 15-25 suspected to be part of a gang that has been terrorising villagers through a spree of break-ins.

Mahalapye police station commander, Superintendent Isaac Mamadi said the men were arrested on Sunday afternoon after some of them were caught stealing. The suspected gang members were severely beaten by some of their victims. The suspects have not yet appeared in court as some are still nursing serious injuries from the mob violence.

“After arresting the suspects, we raided the others’ homes and managed to arrest them. Of late, Mahalapye villagers have been terrorised by thieves who steal electronic gadgets, especially during the day,” he said.
