Man detained for sugar mummy�s death

PALAPYE: Mahalapye police are investigating a case in which a 27-year-old man killed his 35-year-old lover by hitting her with a spade on the head at Taupye near Mahalapye recently.

Mahalapye police station commander, Supt. Isaac Mamadi, the two were lovers and are said to have had a misunderstanding before the incident. He said that according to the police investigations, the culprit who is eight years younger than the deceased, suspected that his girlfriend was in love with somebody else. Mamadi said they are investigating a similar matter in which another 35 year old woman was killed by the father of his children aged 29, on July 30 at Botalaote ward in Mahalapye. The suspect allegedly used a brick to bash the deceased’s head while still asleep at their home.

Mamadi said the two are said to have had a history of abuse, which was known by parents who never ralerted the police. He said by the time of the incident, the two were still in love. He added that according to police investigations, the main cause of murder was jealousy.
