Chillie Baba Too Hot For Pantsula

Just after midnight inside the cramped Old Naledi Community Hall, Ditshotlo Mabifi, also known as Chillie Pantsula, and sometimes, like on this night, is referred to as ‘Chillie Baba’, stepped on the stage for the finale of the Pantsula dance competition organised by Zola Original Pantsula Crew.

Chillie from Mogoditshane was, after the first round, tied on points with the young man they like to call the ‘Lionel Messie of Pantsula’, Thabiso Ramogale popularly known as ‘Discovery’ in the streets of Old Naledi.

It was a grand battle of Pantsula generations because Chillie at 49-years-old, is almost twice the age of Discovery at 26-years-old.
