Warring BMD Factions Hold Own Congresses

BOBONONG: Two warring Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) factions (one led by Ndaba Gaolathe and Wynter Mmolotsi and one headed by Nehemiah Modubule and Gilbert Mangole) are claiming legitimate ownership of the party, a development that many believe may negatively affect the prospects of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

Both factions brought parallel delegates and held separate elective congresses at Matshekge and Bobonong secondary schools respectively.

The two factions have been battling for the soul of the party for over two years. At the congress, both factions even threatened to go to court in order to gain control of the party.
