Leinanyane ‘double contract’ case could head for PSC

A familiar foe has returned to local football as Zebras full back, Thabo Leinanyane has reportedly signed contracts with two sides, Township Rollers and Jwaneng Galaxy. The player’s contract with Galaxy expired last month and he is said to have penned a three-year contract with league champions, Rollers on June 20 before penning yet another three-year deal with Galaxy.

Football Union of Botswana (FUB) secretary general, Kgosana Masaseng labelled acts of this nature as a lack of professionalism. He said the union would continue to represent and advisce players, but does not condone indiscipline. “This is a sign of indiscipline.

There should be disciplinary action against such players. We always advise our players that before they sign any contract, they should bring it to us so we can assess it for their benefit. For a player to sign two contracts with two different teams, we cannot and we will never condone such behaviour,” he said.

Leinanyane has been in fine form with Galaxy and formed part of the right side of the defence that conceded only 25 goals. His performances have not gone unnoticed as he caught the eye of national team selectors and earned two caps at the COSAFA Cup recently.

Meanwhile, Rollers

have appointed Serbian, Nicola Kavazovic as the new coach. The 41-year-old has led the Sri Lankan and Tajikistan national teams. He also had a stint in Maldives where he led New Radiant to their fifth league championship. He will be assisted by Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote while Dragojlo Stanojlovic, has been appointed technical advisor and head of youth development.

Former player, Leutlwetse Tshireletso has been given the youth coach role.  The team has signed Ugandan hard man, Ivan Ntege as replacement for departed, Lawrence Majawa.  The holding midfielder has six caps with the Cranes and was part of the squad that took part in the CHAN finals in 2014.

Galaxy, on the other side, have captured the services of Mochudi Centre Chiefs winger, Senatla Molefe on a two-year deal. The Mascom Top 8 champions also signed Botshelo Mafoko from Sankoyo Bush Bucks.
