The newly-appointed Botswana Congress Party Youth League (BCPYL)president, and first-ever woman to assume the presidency in mainstream Botswana politics, Tebogo Molefe has vowed to hit the ground running.

Molefe was co-opted recently following the resignation of former BCPYL president Chillyboy Rakgare.  With just a few days in office, Molefe already knows what she ought to do and has a plan in place. Her priority, she said, would be to strengthen regional structures and empower them. “We have been visiting all our youth structures in the country to revive some and empower those which are existing.

Our youth committees have been emphasising political education in all youth structures it had visited.  “Our main goal as the youth league is to ensure that our youth get involved in decision making especially in areas like council, Parliament and party executive positions,” Molefe said yesterday in an interview.  She said they want their youth to also get involved in constituency committees as well as branch, cell and the regional structures.
