Mothusi wants P34 million from gov�t

A prominent lawyer, Lyndon Mothusi, who spent some years behind bars before eventually being acquitted of corruption charges wants to be compensated to the tune of P34 million.

Mothusi last week issued a 30-day statutory notice against the Attorney General, Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime and the Commissioner of Police for malicious prosecution and closure of business operations.

“Reference is made to the above subject matter with particular reference to the malicious prosecution and closure of operations of the plaintiff, as at May 2008, after a protracted ill-advised joinder of the plaintiff, as everywhere was a calculated risk by defendants' officials, in the due execution of their duties and not on a frolic of their own,” reads Mothusi’s court papers.
