Lerala workers stuck in salaries� dilemma

To add salt to injury employees are yet to receive letters terminating their employment with the company. In a meeting held last week workers were informed that diamonds that are currently held at Diamond Trading Company Botswana would be sold to pay their salaries, but information that they received during yesterday morning’s meeting was that the potential buyer has reneged on his decision because the diamonds are conflicted.

This is according to Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) general secretary Mbiganyi Moffat Ramokate, who was among those who addressed workers yesterday in reference to the letter that minister Sadique Kebonang wrote to the effect that stated that, the diamonds be preserved and not be passed to the custody of anyone else other than a duly appointed judicial manager or liquidator.
