Makobo man shoots girlfriend, attempts suicide

MAKOBO: Villagers here were left in shock last week Thursday afternoon, after a man fatally shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself. He survived the suicide attempt.

Kebalebetse Galetshabele is said to have followed his wife in his car from Francistown and caught up with her in the fields along the gravel leading deep into the village. He is said to have brought a gun with him. Upon reaching the wife he stopped her and when she opened the window, he surprised her with a bullet that drilled her neck and killed her instantly. Sources closer to the deceased said that the man then drove back to the village leaving the wife dead.

It was said that when arriving home he was screaming "ke bolaile motho" meaning that I killed a person. Reliable sources revealed that as he spoke, turned the gun on himself in full view of everyone. The first shot missed the target. He then allegegly placed the gun under the chin and pulled the trigger. The bulley ripped through the mouth leaving a gaping hole and blood oozing from the open wound.  "These two people have a history of disputes in the family. They fought a few times and they even have a few cases with the police," said one source.
