Unionists say state media frequently ignores their events

SEROWE: State media including Botswana Television, Radio Botswana and Daily News here, were conspicuously absent Monday as hundreds of workers under the Botswana Federation of Public, Private and Parastatal Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) celebrated Labour Day at Lady Khama Community Hall.

The labour movement did not take their absence well, saying it was a continuation of partisanship in the deployment of State resources.

Mmegi is informed that the State media houses were given an order from Office of the President (OP) instructing them to skip the BOFEPUSU event. Government and the federation are involved in an acrimonious wage dispute that has seen the collapse of the Public Service Bargaining Council.
