The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) has failed in a bid to have South African-based entrepreneur, Simbi Phiri who is also born of a Botswana mother, found guilty before proven innocent as the anti-corruption agency also failed yet again to have Phiri’s Khato Civils Botswana bank account frozen while they appeal the decision of the High Court.

According to the prosecution, presumption of innocence does not apply in this particular case and that the Judge should not have raised it.
