Paid: The sports ministry has cleared money owed to the Zrbras for the Independence Day clash against Angola

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYESCD) has paid most of the fees for appearance and other outstanding bonuses due to the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA), Parliament was told on Tuesday.

MYESCD minister, Thapelo Olopeng, said P648,000 was paid to the BAA for outstanding bonuses, with P112,000 being appearance fees while P536,000 was for incentives for athletes and officials who represented the country at international events. He was responding to a question from Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Mephato Reatile.

“Furthermore, a total of P78,850 was paid to BAA as appearance fees and bonuses for the Rio 2016 Olympics,” the minister said.
