The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has spent P770,000 on council by-elections since the 2014 general elections until to date. On the other hand, the IEC spent P750,000 on Parliamentary by-elections.

Usually, the cost of a by-election is dependent on the size of the polling district and the constituency. “We have had seven council seats by-elections and one Parliamentary by-election.
