Investigators are heading to Gaborone City Council (GCC) where reports of corruption, maladministration and abuse of office are rife. A reliable source at government enclave has informed The Monitor that a commission is likely to be set up this week to look into operations at the City Council where there are two city clerks instead of one.

The source revealed that preliminary investigations carried out recently found disturbing practices and that there could be a syndicate operating in the Council to enrich themselves and their relatives. The Monitor is informed that even the Mayor Veronica Lesole has recently complained to the ministry of Local Government about the two clerks saying she does not know which one she should work with. It is understood that one of the City Clerks was supposed to go on transfer a few months ago but why she is still around, is still a mystery to the Mayor  and the authorities at the ministry.
