TSABONG: In a dramatic twist, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC) chairman aspirants dumped their lobby lists to team up against one another.

After Simon Mavange Moabi emerged victorious for the top position,  Thabo Autlwetse, Bruce Nkgakile and Fox Segwale teamed up against Moabi who managed to get another candidate Vuyo Yane into his team. Moabi, who has been making headlines with allegations that the party leadership supported him, won by 178 votes, Autlwetse got 130, Yane 61 while Nkgakile and Segwale got 43 votes each. Shortly after the announcement, the contestants and their voters complained that the vote was unfair as some people were not supposed to vote.

They then reached an agreement that Autlwetse contest for secretary general, Nkgakile treasurer and Segwale deputy secretary general. They all emerged victorious. Yane won the deputy chairmanship.
