What started as mere light showers in the afternoon turned into a shocker in a matter of minutes as the rains rendered the village dangerous thanks to its characteristic rivulets that crisscross every part of the village on their way to emptying into the mighty Lotsane River that passes through the village.

The village Chief Phoophoo Mapena says it has been 27 years since they experienced these rains which turned out to be floods, saying the last time it rained like this was in 1988. Kgosi Mapena blamed the raging flood to the bad topography of the village, which is low lying and all the water comes running from the top of the hill adjacent to the village.
