The BCP leadership had called the press conference to brief the media on preparation to launch the party in Kanye and to welcome Rammidi. "I have no intention of being an accomplice in the destruction of our country. I am proud to be part of a team that is concerned about the future of our country. In that respect we shall be launching the BCP in Kanye on April 27, 2013," said Rammidi. He said he has resolved to be the torchbearer of the BCP message and campaigns in Kanye.
He said if it pleases the party and its members he will present himself to contest the parliamentary seat of Kanye North in the 2014 elections. "I hope this will put to rest speculations and allegations that the BCP has convinced me to relocate to Gaborone. With this launch of April 27, the battle lines for 2014 elections are drawn and with God on our side we shall overcome."Rammidi said his stay at BCP has been a revelation about the realities of opposition politics and inadequacies of Botswana's democracy. He said he has experienced firsthand how tough and difficult is the terrain that is opposition politics in Botswana.
"I have observed how financially draining and frustrating it is to do the business of opposition parties. "Even though most of them complain of the calamity that has become BDP, they believe assisting an opposition member will jeopardise their chances of doing business."He said he will not sell his soul for a penny at the expense of what he stand for as a politician and a representative of his constituency.
He said he has gown to appreciate the courage of opposition politicians."Day in and day out they use their personal resources to finance our democracy that we so much cherish... opposition politicians remain impoverished by sponsoring our democracy for the love of their country. For them every thebe spent is a thebe denied their families and not for gain," he said. Speaking at the same press conference BCP secretary general Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang said for BCP Kanye is an important political base. "On many occasions Kanye has consistently rejected the conservative Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). Compared to many rural constituents
