George Mogopodi has been given the task of guiding Debswana First Division South League outfit, Notwane back to the Premiership after he took the job this week. The former Gaborone United (GU) assistant coach replaces Solomon ‘Wire’ Kaelo who left in November.

Notwane spokesperson, Julius Baitumetse said Mogopodi is a man who has spent all his life focusing on development especially during his days at the Gabane-based Uniao Flamengo Santos. The club produced some of the best players in the country, including Mogakolodi ‘Tsotso’ Ngele and Thato ‘Yellow’ Bolweleng. Mogopodi then relocated to GU where he served as assistant coach.

“We know his potential and that is why we went after him. We are aware that some people hold a different view about Mogopodi but for a coach to be successful, he should be given support and resources,” he said.
