Tshireletso, Galenamotlhale under the spotlight
With results continuously refusing to come, some sections of Mochudi Centre Chiefs supporters have blamed coach Bongani Mafu for the dry spell. However, many of them equally admit their team has not been able to bolster their squad as much as it should have.
The general belief is that the club has not done enough to try and hold onto its key players at the end of last season. One of those players is effective winger, Lemponye Tshireletso who crossed to arch rivals, Township Rollers. He was an important member of their squad for many seasons. In fact he single handedly carried Chiefs by his shoulders and handed them the league title in the 2014/2015 season with his goals.
He finished as the league’s top goal scorer with 15 goals that season despite playing as a winger. Last season he continued where he left off and scored crucial goals for Magosi although they finished as runners up.
He scored a total of 17 goals and was beaten to the Green Boot award in the last match when Gilport Lions’ striker, Tendai Nyamadzawo scored seven goals in the last match. Just about three months as a Rollers player, Tshireletso has quickly settled in and is one of the key members in the team.
He will face Chiefs
Despite losing both Tshireletso and Tendai Nyumasi at the end of last season, Chiefs managed to hold onto their captain, Lesego Galenamotlhale. The latter was linked with a move away from the club like other key players last season but showed loyalty when he penned a new two-year contract. He officially took over and deservedly so as Pontsho Moloi’s successor at the end of last season. He is a man for the big games and remains Chiefs’ hope this season. Not only is he is a good leader but also gives the team shape. For the past two seasons he has been a pillar in the middle of the park.
Alongside Arnold Mampori, they look a formidable combination that can match any side. The only setback has been that their team is thin in front. Galenamotlhale is likely to be up against Ntesang Simanyana who seems to be settling in at Rollers. With Rollers boasting some of the league’s dangerous attackers, Galenamotlhale is most likely to play his usual holding role in front of the defence.
