The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has said changes to the women’s league structure would be implemented next season and not this year.

The changes, made with FIFA assistance will kick-in next season with teams using the old structure in the 2016/2017 season, which starts tomorrow. In 2014 FIFA delegates advised the BFA that the league did not meet the necessary requirements to be called a super league hence the BFA should come up with a new format. 

The association’s spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane had earlier told Mmegi Sport that the league would be played at regional structures, with the winners advancing to the inter-regional play-offs while the championships would be determined at the national championship playoffs.
