Bakgatla royals, Kgosi Mothibe Linchwe, Kgosi Segale Linchwe, Bana Sekai Linchwe and their leader, Kgafela Kgafela II recently met in Moruleng iMn a meeting that is said to have addressed the family’s differences.

The royal family has not been seeing eye-to-eye, particularly with Mothibe who was seen as a sell-out for his conservative views against those of the extreme leftist regime led by Kgafela and Sekai. Mothibe Linchwe was reinstated as president of Customary Court of Appeal (South) after successfully pleading for forgiveness from President Ian Khama.

The Monitor can reveal that the Bakgatla royals recently had a heart-to-heart meeting that was viewed as a post-mortem of their struggle against the government. The royals in that meeting also shared their experiences and views as well as map a comeback strategy. All the four leaders have had a rough and tumultuous experience with the tribe bearing the brunt of it all.
