The Monitor :: We Will Surprise Pinkie One Day, VDC Official

Speaking in an interview with the Monitor at her homestead ahead of their monster Bot50 celebrations, largely funded by pinkie to the tune of over P1 million Pula, Mbisana paid tribute to the woman hallowed in the village only as Ausi Pinkie, saying she comes a long way with Mookane developments; “ She has shouldered enormous developments at the local Primary school, which she has whole heartedly adopted and turned it around; the school is such a beauty to the eye today; it used to be an eyesore with its dilapidated buildings, but she renovated the whole school, connected electricity, tiled the school, planted a beautiful garden; her selflessness in the process inspired others in the village to also come on board and others have since become visible, chipping in with  a sliding gate at the same school. Tiled some offices, installed swings for kiddies, and furniture”.

Ms Mbisana says the VDC recognizes that such partners in developments need to be honoured to further inspire them and also motivate others to contribute the little they can toward the development of their village. “ We are still planning how we can honour her, may God   continue to bless her for us; she has really put our village in the map, recently the Vision 2016 Council celebrated their event here, and we are hosting the World Postal services Day commemorations in a few days time”.

The VDC official also paid tribute to Ausi Pinkie for constructing a spacious stadium for the village; “ Now we have our stadium, it can host big events, because it is really very spacious, thanks to Ausi Pinkie’s hand. “ She has come on board and fenced the stadium at a time when the plot had over grown with trees, but Ausi Pinkie hired earth movers to bring down the forest and level the grounds; we also contributed labour as the VDC through Ipelegeng to assist;

we will find some development in the village to name after her in honour of her dedication to the developments of Mookane, maybe naming this stadium after her would not be a bad idea, we will have to sit down and plan it, and also consult our District Council, but she deserves  something special from us.

The VDC official says she has not been overly surprised by Ausi Pinkie’s works in the village; “ `I am certain she inherited the good heart from her mother, everyone talks about how selfless her late mother was to this village; her uncle, the retired bishop Boniface Setlalekgosi, was also a man of good heart, both were spiritual people, they were Catholics, yes, she is walking right on the tracks of her forebears, especially the two I have mentioned.”

Mbisana says besides the P31, 893 the village got from both Bot50 and the District Council, she is very happy that as the VDC they had been able to mobilise the villagers to contribute more. While Ausi Pinkie and family contributed four cows, there were five more cows for the festivities contributed by various members of the community, while other families also contributed about six goats, with others contributing bottled water for the guests.

During the Independence week the village put on a neat face, with no sight of litter, and Ms Mbisana says her Committee worked hard to mobilise volunteers and Ipelegeng workers to ensure that they enter the Bot50 celebrations with pride.

The village had been holding prayers at the kgotla almost on daily basis ahead of the big day, and as the Monitor arrived on independence eve the praying villagers could be see gathering at the kgotla in the late afternoon for their prayers.  The final prayer was also held in the early morning of independence ahead of a scout led procession from the kgotla to the Pinkie Setlalekgosi stadium.
