MAUN: The chairperson of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) in the North West region Baphutulodi Kgari, has promised a grand welcome ceremony for legislator Bagalatia Arone in Shakawe over the weekend.
Arone decamped from the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) to the BDP in June.
The pint-sized legislator, who won his first election under the BCP ticket in 2009, will be officially welcomed into the ruling party on Saturday in Shakawe.
The event has caused a buzz with a lot of accommodation facilities already sold out in the village.
Kgari said the party was rolling out the red carpet for Arone.
“We want to give him a deserving ceremony. We
Ke ka tshwantshanya se le go gorosa ngwetsi,” a visibly elated Kgari said.
Kgari explained that President Ian Khama and the party chairman, Mokgweetsi Masisi are expected to grace the occasion, as well as several cabinet ministers.
“I have just returned from Shakawe and the mood is already celebratory. People are ready to welcome Arone,” Kgari said.
