Scientists urged to be movers of sustainable development

Scientists have been encouraged to harness science and technology in order to meet the challenges for sustainable development.

Permanent secretary in the ministry of education and skills development, Theophilus Mooko made the call at the 2016 International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) conference.

He said science provides a solid foundation for new approaches and technologies that can be adapted to different environments or different problems. “Scientific research, if translated into practical action, can bridge the gap between research and policy or decision making,” he said.
