Sesigo Project Launched In SElebi-Phikwe

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana National Library Service launched its Sesigo project in Selebi-Phikwe last week. The project is a partnership between the government and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

Speaking at the launch, Principal Librarian, Keseitse Same said the main aim of the project is to allow meaningful access to computers and the internet in Botswana. She said the government will take care of the maintenance and upgrade of libraries, boosting internet connectivity, purchasing equipment and footing recurrent costs while BMGF is responsible for computer hardware and software installation and training costs.

Same stated that the project aims to transform public libraries to allow them to provide a full range of information services and have a measurable positive impact on the lives of users both socially and economically. She said that the project avails a platform where everybody can access the internet at no cost.
